The Sugar Shaker, The Hairdresser and Two Industrial Designers
In 1962 Carlo Mazzeri and Anselmo Vitale designed a sugar shaker for Alessi.
Rita Evans, a hairdresser from Weybridge, bought the sugar shaker as a present for her friend who had a very young son called Simon. Little did Rita know that that sugar sifter would ignite a passion for modern design in the young boy. He would watch with Proust-like fascination, as the glittery sugar cascaded down from the silvery container in a perfect union of function and form. The sugar shaker eventually became a shop.
